International youth meeting: “From exclusion into inclusion”

The iron curtain of Soviet Union fell down 15 years ago. There was made the perfect possibility for different nations to see the new world with its traditions, cultures, and history. Azerbaijan is one of those countries, which has got new membership to the European family.

After the getting independent Azerbaijan faced with numerous challenges that still exist in our society. Those challenges mainly concern young people living in various regions of Azerbaijan.

Take into account that 65% of population young people (under ages 18-35) there are many youth especially in the regions excluded from the social life. Socially excluded young people periodically getting out from the society meanwhile the country is getting numerous challenges in different parts of society at all. Exclusion of young people living in regions more concern to the lacking of information and non-providing educational meetings. Hence, exclusion of young people affecting in non-participation of young people in decision-making process.

“Bridge to the Future” Youth Union is intended to carry out International youth meeting titled: “From exclusion into inclusion” and involve active youth NGOs from the different European regions. In this international youth exchange meeting, teams from different regions of Europe will discuss the activities organized within European Campaign “All Different-All Equal” explore the youth participation and review the process of integration of European youth from the exclusion into inclusion. After sharing of information and experiences, participants of the international meeting will be divided into 4 different teams and move to the various regions of Azerbaijan. Each team will be responsible for the carrying out of 2 days workshops for the young people excluded from the social life.

Aims and objectives of the International youth meeting
The main aim of the meeting is to integrate social excluded young people into the active participation in social life and exchange with the best practices gotten within the European Campaign “All Different-All Equal” more concern to the topic of the project.

Objectives
• To identify and understand factors of social exclusion of young people;
• To exchange the best practices of activities more focus on proposed topics carried out within the Campaign “All Different-All Equal” in Council of Europe member countries;
• To discuss how and what is necessary to develop for better youth work within campaign in European countries;
• To involve social excluded young people into the active participation in social life;
• To give an opportunity for participants from different countries to see the world outside of their country;

Program elements:

- Best practices of European Campaign more focus on proposed topics in various regions of Europe;
- What is inclusion and exclusion?
- Integration of excluded youth into the social life;
- Youth participation: Is it helpful to integrate from exclusion into inclusion?
- The basic guideline of ToT for holding expected workshops.
- lecture by an expert, and working groups; Presentation of components of European Campaign “All Different – All Equal”
- How to avoid exclusion?
- The ways of getting active in social life of society.

Methodology of the course

1. From an Educational Cultural Learning perspectives and using non-formal education participants will discuss and preview the activities carried out within the Campaign “All Different-All Equal” in European countries.
2. Within 4-days youth meeting, which will take place in Baku city the participants will discuss the Campaign and expected workshop elements: presentation of the participating countries, working in groups and discussions.
3. Lecture within participating of the local expert for providing extra information about the topics having key role within European Campaign All Different – All Equal from the practices of European countries.
4. Participants of the meeting will hold 2-days workshops in 4 regions (Ganja, Shamkir, Sheki and Lenkoran) of Azerbaijan for socially excluded young people: presentations, working in groups, round tables.
5. After getting end of workshops participants will design joint projects directed to mutual aid of young people in Europe: international workshops, discussions on round table, follow up of the project, reporting in plenary and evaluation.
6. Closing ceremony of the meeting will hold in the Council of Europe office in Baku. The ceremony will be closed with the Press Conference (Briefing) in which Media representatives will be invited.

Working languages

English is working language of the meeting.

Profile of the participants and recruitment procedure:

- Be able to work in English;
- Be aged between 18 and 30 (exceptions could be made based on justification). There will be 20 participants coming from the nine participation countries (Azerbaijan, France, Georgia, Greece, Moldova, Poland, Turkey and Ukraine). We are expecting four local participants from Azerbaijan and two from each other countries.
- Be actively involved in his/her youth organization, therefore be well informed about the European Campaign “All Different – All Equal” in his/her country.
- Be well informed about their organization and be prepared to represent its activities to the participants of this meeting;
- Act as a multiplies once back home;
- Be able to work in English language during the meeting;
- Be committed fully to attend the course and be supported by their youth organization

Technical Information

Accommodation
Board and lodging will be provided by “Bridge to the Future” Youth NGO for the whole duration of the meeting in Azerbaijan.

Insurance
Participants are asked to have their own insurance for the duration of the seminar for accident, civil liability or illness. The organizers do not cover insurance costs.



Financial Information

Travel reimbursement
Travel costs of all participants will be reimbursed at 70% based on the original tickets, invoices and all travel related tickets. The 70% of reimbursement should not exceed:

400 Euros for France;
350 Euros for Greece and Poland;
280 Euros for Turkey;
245 Euros for Moldova;
210 Euros for Russia and Ukraine
28 Euros for Georgia

There is no reimbursement for the local participants coming from different regions of Azerbaijan. Visa costs of foreign participants will be fully reimbursed by the hosted organization based on the original invoices that you get in the border of Baku airport.

Due to a low budget for transport, we encourage participants that come from a range of 1000 km to use bus or train as means of transport.

Before purchasing your tickets, please consult with the organizers upon the travel costs.

The meeting can take place when participants make an effort to contribute financially to their travel costs. Therefore, we kindly ask you to use any alternative possibilities of funding that can cover travel costs. Sometimes your sending organizations or structures would effort to cover the travel costs or you may identify small local grants to contribute for the travel cost. We would appreciate very much your help.
